Standing Waves er en konsert som blander den unike kombinasjonen av jordens lyder, med musikk fra både den vestlige og den østlige halvkule. Ved hjelp av fiolin, tabla, (overtone)vokaler, keyboard, sampling og film er du velkommen til å høre og se på jordens pulsårer, lørdag 5. november. Arrangøren har vedlagt følgende beskrivelse av musikerne:
Roger Huckle (violin) is the inspiration and guide for Bristol Ensemble (UK) – Bristol’s professional chamber orchestra, since its foundation in 1994. Roger studied at the Birmingham Conservatoire and with Frederick Grinke, was a member of Norway’s Bergen Philharmonic, and now performs with leading UK orchestras – including coleading the London Concertante and Opera Box Orchestra.
Sanju Sahai (tabla) is currently one of the finest and most sought after tabla players of his generation. His meteoric rise in popularity in traditional Indian Classical music has led Sanju to collaborate with different genres such as jazz, Egyptian, flamenco, opera, western classical, hip hop, folk, blues, contemporary music and dance. Sanju performs all over the UK, India, Europe, Middle East, USA, Australasia and the far East.
Jayson Stilwell is an overtone singer who combines influences from Tuva, Tibet and Mongolia as well western meditative and contemporary sound and music. Having begun his journey by training with sacred sound pioneer Jonathan Goldman, Jayson now has over 20 years experience as a performer, workshop facilitator and recording artist.
Marcus Davidson (keyboard/sounds) is a Bergen based composer focusing on music which reflects sounds from nature, often using recordings and samples. His compositions have been performed at festivals all over Europe including Festspillene and Borealis, and has collaborated with amongst others Chris Watson and Voice (London). His music released on various labels including Touch.
