Raoul Mörchen

Raoul Mörchen is the moderator for the first day of the conference. Born in 1967 in a small village in Westphalia (Germany), Raoul Mörchen studied Musicology, Art History and Philosophy in Münster and Cologne. He received his M.A. in 1995 with a thesis on Morton Feldman. Started working in 1989 as a music critic and author on contemporary music for newspapers, magazines, journals and the German public radio network ARD. Raoul co-edited the magazine MUSIK (2003-2011) dedicated to essays by composers and sound artists, and edited and translated the Middleburg Lectures by Morton Feldman published by MusikTexte. In 2006 and 2008 he co- organized the Darmstädter Ferienkurse, an equivalent to the Norwegian music organisation Ny Musikk. Since 2006 he has worked as a presenter on the daily arts and culture radio show Mosaik, for the Westdeutscher Rundfunk, Cologne.
